Have You Been Suffering from Chronic Bad Breath?
Posted by Ella Pierce

Is it so bad that even your dentist dreads your visit?
"OMG I can't believe the breath of that guy! I don't know if he eats sh*t or what. It's just horrible and I can't stand talking to him, not even being in the same room with him..."
"You know that girl from the marketing department? She's hot but man her breath stinks like a septic tank! I'd date her if I'm not too worried about fainting in front of her..."
Have you ever been the "talk of the town" because of your breath? I know it feels horrible to be in this kind of situation especially if you do not have any idea what's causing the problem or what it's gonna take to clear out the situation.
Persistent bad breath or halitosis can cause depression or severe anxiety because it has an effect on your personal and work relationships and your confidence. Being a bad breath sufferer means you constantly worry about your breath. Sometimes it feels like you don't want to open your mouth anymore, right? Everytime you speak, you notice that people pretend that their noses are itching or even worst they pinch their noses and try not to breathe. As offending as it sounds, it happens.
This ain't a laughing matter. There are so many people out there who are suffering from chronic bad breath. If you are one of those people, you can perfectly understand when I say that it ruins your self confidence. When you notice that people touch their nose a lot or they hold their breath while you talk to them closely, you know that the culprit is the smell coming out of your mouth. Bad breath does not only damage your self esteem but your relationships and social life as well. Bad breath may also be the reason why you didn't get the job you have been vying for. Did you know that some employers reject applicants just because of their breath? They simply don't care how talented you are. All they know is that they can't stand your breath and you have to leave the room faster than you can blink your eyes. Talk about first impressions! I know you're screaming "that's not fair!" right now but that's how the world works.
As embarrassing as it is, letting nature take its course will not do you any good. Bad breath does not magically go away on its own and no I'm not talking about occasional dragon breath that is produced by having too much garlic over dinner.
Halitosis or more commonly know as chronic bad breath is the third most frequent reason why people go to the dentist , following tooth decay and periodontal disease. About 85% to 90% of the time, bad breath originates in the mouth itself and the intensity usually changes during the day and this is caused by eating certain foods that aggravate the problem.
Chronic bad breath affects millions of people and it doesn't discriminate. There are hundreds of products available that claim to end bad breath for good but it really doesn't matter if you use the most expensive mouth products if you do not know what is causing your breath to smell like feces or rotten cabbage. As I always say, understanding the cause is equal to finding the best possible treatment.

Beverages/Foods That Can Cause Your Breath to Stink
Posted by Ella Pierce
We already know that garlic and onion are two of the things you should never have when you are on a date but do you exactly know why? Sulfur compounds cause our breath to smell funky and these molecules are contained in onions and garlic. Sulfur happens to be nature’s way of crafting unpleasant smell.
So aside from onions and garlic, what else should we keep at a minimum?
Alcohol
Alcohol contains drying agent, chemically known as desiccant. This is often used in laboratories to “dry out” hard to reach areas in test tubes. Obviously, this will have the same end result in your mouth. And the last thing you want to do on earth to keep your breath smelling fresh is drink lots of beer, wine or hard liquor. I know you know exactly how it smells like so no need for me to describe the horrible smell of a drunken's breath.

Dairy Foods
Cheese, milk, yogurt and ice cream are just some of the dairy foods that produce foul odours in the mouth. Did you know that tens of millions of people are unable to breakdown the lactose protein in dairy foods? That means a build up of amino acids is produced and this is converted into Volatile Sulfur Compounds. These compounds cause our breath to smell funky and they kinda’ linger within the surface of our tongue and throat.

Sugar
You were a bit shocked with Dairy now I'm telling you Sugar can cause your breath to stink too. You hate me now? I was also in disbelief when I first heard about this and I almost cried in protest. I love anything sweet! And yes I love everything of it too much. Candies, chocolate bars, breakfast bars, (some) cereals, muffins, cakes, doughnuts, brownies, peanut brittles all have a considerable amount of sugar. You can keep adding to the list and I'm betting that you'll never get done with it.
"Sugar poses a problem as mouth bacteria feed on it"
So now is the perfect time to let go of your fantasy that candy bars help sweeten your breath. Forget about mint candies as well. Most of them contain a lot of sugar that makes the problem even worse. Try to stay away from brands such as Altoids, Ice Breaker, Tic Tacs, etc. If you want something to instantly freshen up your breath, look for a breath mint that does NOT contain sugar as an ingredient. Always look for the ingredient Xylitol. This is a natural sweetener and studies show that it has tremendous anti-decay properties.

Acidic Foods and Beverages
Acids tend to make the bacteria grow at a faster rate. What can you do? You have to find ways on how to neutralize the acids in your mouth so you can give sulfur compounds a chance to grow. The most logical way on how you can do this is to eliminate certain foods from your diet. What are some of the most acidic foods/beverages you want to steer clear from?
-Coffee (both regular and decaf)
-Fruit Juices
-Fruits with High Levels of Acidity
-Ketchup
-Mustard
-Cocoa
- Pepper
-Soft Drinks
-Vinegar

Skipping Breakfast Can Cause Bad Breath
Posted by Anisa Meier
You have a busy day ahead of you and you decided to skip breakfast to save 5 or 10 minutes of your precious time. You lead the presentation and everything seems to be doing just great except for one thing, people in the conference room are covering their noses and giving you that weird get-over-it-quick look. The culprit? Your smelly breath!
You may not realize this but omitting breakfast regularly can cause your breath to smell terrible. How? When you don’t eat breakfast in the morning, you do not have something to chew on to stimulate saliva production. You know very well that a decrease in the production of saliva in the mouth can cause dry mouth and this condition is often linked to bad breath.
Your mouth may become swamped with odor-causing bacteria at a rate faster than normal and we all know that this is the perfect environment for bad breath. Without the cleaning action of saliva, that oral malodor may linger throughout the day. Even if you properly brush your teeth or even if you use the most expensive commercial mouthwashes, it is imperative that you start your day right by eating breakfast. It’s as simple as it gets, you have to eat breakfast to increase saliva production unless you want to suffer the consequences for the entire day.
Another important thing that I need to point out is that for people who are dealing with acid reflux or any sort of medical condition that causes breath odor, it’s a definite no-no to skip breakfast. Your doctor may have already told you that acid reflux can sometimes produce foul odors in the mouth. While regular checkups and taking prescription medicine helps clear out the issue, it’s not wise to avoid breakfast every morning. Keep in mind that healthy living and good oral hygiene is the key to living bad breath fee.
You have limited time every morning to eat breakfast? No problem because there are several options you can choose from to satisfy your hunger and prevent bad breath.
